The dinner table is often a place where families gather to talk about their days and share a good meal. For many artists, though, it serves as a source of inspiration, leading them to create work that examines the evolution of kitchen-related objects. "Table Manners” offers a refreshing look at artwork and objects created from an imaginative range of materials, and celebrates decades of artists transforming kitchen devices into objects of beauty, whimsy and wit. The messages of the materials, and their very familiarity, add layers of content and the delight of recognition.

Human Nature presents the contemporary landscape photographs of Barbara Bosworth. Drawing together nearly twenty years of work, the exhibition demonstrates Bosworth's ongoing interest in people's presence in nature. She focuses on points of contact: bird-banders and their fragile catch, rifle hunters and their prey, lush green meadows marked by tire tracks, and the magic of natural phenomena easily overlooked: birds' nests, soap bubbles, an eclipse. Her photographs reflect the beauty she finds all around her, from a tiny bass swimming in a jar to the dramatic power of a pounding waterfall. This is Bosworth's first exhibition in the American Southwest and features more than 40 prints, including both color and exquisitely printed gelatin silver photographs.
In addition, Human Nature will debut a monumental print of an overgrown meadow; shown on such a commanding scale, its deep green foliage immerses viewers in another world.
As a partner with the Phoenix Art Museum, Bass Pro Shops is offering its customers $2 off admission to the Phoenix Art Museum. Pick up a card at Bass Pro, located at Dobson Road north of 8th Street, Mesa.

We frame our view of the world through appearance. We interpret and judge by appearance. We are often obsessed with appearance. However interpretations of appearance vary when viewed through the various filters of culture, education, religion, society and gender, perhaps even genetics. Appearance can be malleable and deceptive. Perception and reality are not always equal. Outward appearance does not necessarily reflect reality. The world is framed by appearance. Appearance can be completely manipulated to create reality from fantasy.
