Summer Nights in Mesa Keep
Visitors and Residents Cool

When the sun goes down, it doesn’t mean mom, dad and the kids need to go to bed. Below are some fun and exciting activities taking place this summer in Mesa – at night!

 

r      Splash, swim and slide after sunset as part of NightSplash at Golfland Sunsplash. Offered every Friday night in June & July, and Saturday nights in August - Night Splash is a chance to enjoy all the slides, wave pools and water fun without the sun. Open from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

 

r      The Arizona Museum of Natural History will host three “Night at the Museum” events this summer from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Events include discounted admission and themed activities and events in the museum:

June 13 – Lucky Friday the 13th! Featuring gold panning events.

July 11 – Ice Age Animals: Featuring the cool waters of Dinosaur Mountain

August 8 – Get Behind the 8 Ball: Focused on getting children ready for back to school

 

r      Flashlight Tours at Desert Botanical Garden are offered Thursdays and Saturdays from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., May through August. Free with admission, flashlight tours are perfect for little ones letting them experience the desert environment at night complete with desert wildlife including nighthawks, tortoises, insects and night-blooming flowers. Guests must come equipped with their own flashlight for the guided tours.

r      Arizona Museum for Youth will host a Winter Wonderland July 19. Moms, dads and kids can make some cool creations with ice and snow.  Children will be able to "chill out" as they sculpt snow, make an ice castle, create snow people, and much more. r      Usery Mountain Park in East Mesa offers guided evening nature hikes and walks throughout the summer. Visit http://www.maricopa.gov/parks/usery/ for offerings in June, July & August. Next up is the Full Flower Moon Hike on May 18 at 7:30 p.m.

 

r      Set sail on the Dolly Steamboat at Canyon Lake and watch Arizona’s night stars twinkle on the water. This summer take in either a Twilight Dinner Cruises or the popular Twilight Astronomy Cruises. These 2 ½ hour romantic cruises offer an exciting alternative to dining in Phoenix and the surrounding areas. Entrees are served buffet style and vary by night.
